This three part panel presentation for the business savvy woman begins with a discussion on the value of participating in events for businesses. From there, we drill down into the art of networking and the essentials of event sponsorship so that you can make the most of every event opportunity that comes your way. The evening ends with Q&A and an interactive breakout session to further unearth how you can use events to realize your professional and business goals now and in the future. Panelists: John Rae Manager of Strategic Alliances, Resort Municipality of Whistler Topic: The Value and Benefits that Community Events Hold for Your Business John has over 30 years leading strategic planning, execution and financial management of a wide range of initiatives. Previously, John worked in a senior managerial role in planning, funding and delivering the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Games in Whistler as the Executive Producer of Whistler Live! John’s current role is to develop strategies and plans to optimize the legacies of the Games and to develop new revenue streams for the Resort Municipality of Whistler. These include strategy development for festivals and events that develop tourism in Whistler as well as sponsorship, naming rights, and corporate partnerships. John also plays a key role in the resort-wide strategic planning process to deliver sustainable long-term growth through cultural tourism. Bernie Lalor-Morton Owner, Coach and Consultant, Focus Forward Coaching and Consulting Topic: The Art of Networking Bernie has owned Focus Forward Coaching and Consulting and been a professional facilitator for over 20 years. She specializes in customized and interactive training programs for small business and not-for-profit organizations. One of the highlights of her career was being a Training Specialist with VANOC responsible for training over 25,000 volunteers. She is an active member of the Whistler community and has held many volunteer positions including being the Co-founder and Chair of Women of Whistler. Bernie believes that networking is one of the most powerful ways to build your business or your job search – using your personal network of friends and colleagues.  Helping businesswomen recognize how big their network is and how they can tap into it is an especially rewarding part of her coaching business. Andrea Eby Instructor, Capilano University and Independent Marketing Consultant Topic: The Essentials of Event Sponsorship Andrea is a Marketing Consultant and Instructor at Capilano University. Her experience spans three continents and covers a variety of sectors including consumer packaged goods, sports, events, and not for profit. Andrea has spent many years working in the fields of marketing and special events, holding positions with a variety of organizations including Cadbury, Schering Plough Canada, Nagano Olympic Winter Games Bidding Committee and Ironman Japan.
